Beginner Embroidery & Digitising Training

New to embroidery?

That's absolutely fine. Many of our beginner students arrive with little or no experience. Whether you've never opened Wilcom before or you're still learning how to thread your machine, we'll guide you step by step in a friendly, supportive environment. Every session is tailored to your starting point, so you'll never be expected to know more than you do.

Is this right for me?

Learn embroidery with confidence

Perfect for hobbyists, makers, small business owners, and anyone who is completely new to embroidery digitising or wants to feel more confident using their embroidery machine.

Whether you've just bought your first machine, are thinking about investing in one, or have had your equipment sitting unused for months, these one to one training sessions are designed to help you get started in a relaxed, supportive environment.

You don't need any previous experience. There are no silly questions, and we'll work at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Every training session is tailored around your individual goals. You can choose to focus on learning Wilcom E4 digitising software, setting up and operating your Brother PR embroidery machine, or a combination of both.

We'll discuss your experience before your session begins so we can create a training plan that makes the best use of your time.

What you can learn

Depending on your chosen pathway, your session may include:

Wilcom E4 Digitising

  • Getting familiar with the Wilcom E4 workspace
  • Creating simple embroidery designs
  • Editing satin, tatami and other stitch types
  • Understanding underlay and recommended settings
  • Creating lettering
  • Basic artwork digitising
  • Preparing files for embroidery
  • Understanding how different stitch types affect the finished result

Machine Training

  • Setting up your Brother PR embroidery machine
  • Introduction to Tajima machines (where appropriate)
  • Safe threading and bobbin preparation
  • Correct hooping and framing techniques
  • Choosing suitable stabilisers
  • Loading embroidery designs
  • Understanding machine settings
  • Troubleshooting common beginner problems
  • Looking after your machine

By the end of your session

You'll leave with a much clearer understanding of the embroidery process and greater confidence using your equipment.

Where appropriate, you'll also create your own digitised embroidery design during the session.

Most importantly, you'll understand why things work, helping you continue learning with confidence once you're back in your own workspace.
