The Ravensons - Alex & Pip

The Ravensons - Alex & Pip

Wedding Date: 11th July 2026

Location: Blake Hall, Ongar, Essex, UK.

Photographer: Sam & Louise Photography

On a sunny, July day, this electric alternative couple celebrated their love, unique personality and exchanged their personal vows in the presence of loved ones, dancing a ceilidh whilst the sun began to set.

How would you describe your wedding?

"Magical, Personal, Alternative-y, Electric goth!"

What inspired your choice of wedding location, venue and overall vibe for your day?

"We knew we wanted a barn wedding and when we saw Blake Hall we loved it. But what sold it was how open they were for us to do things our way. So many venues we visited had very rigid and sometimes traditional expectations of what the day would be like. We’re big nerds and emos so we knew we wanted to express ourselves through the vibe of the day."

Looking back, what are the main moments from your wedding day that you'll remember forever?

"Our wedding vows were very special, the mosh pit on the dance floor, ceilidh, as well as all of our guests racing to solve the clues we left to find free booze!"

Were there any planning decisions or personal touches that made your day feel especially meaningful or unique to you as a couple?

"We both wanted to dress in a way that, felt wedding-y, but expressed who we were and was fun and different. We did the same with the decorations, getting married under a tree and with a huge full moon on the dance floor. Pip wore an incredible radiant crown, which matched my beautifully embroidered suit. We got so many comments and questions about it and how our outfits really felt like us."

What advice would you give to couples planning a wedding with a similar style or vision to yours?

"Do it. If you love it, and it feels like you and it makes you feel good, you should absolutely go for it. Even your most traditional family members will see how happy it makes you, how good you feel and all you’ll hear is how special and ‘you’ it is."

What made you decide to have a custom suit and waistcoat created for your wedding day?

"I knew I wanted something different from a traditional suit. I looked all over but couldn’t find anything that felt formal but also elevated and fun. There just doesn’t seem to exist menswear that fulfills that role, So I started looking for people that could add something special to an existing suit and when I chatted with Beth I knew it would be exactly what I was hoping for."

What elements or details did you want to incorporate into your design and why were they meaningful to you?

"We had lots of silver details at the wedding so I knew I wanted to include that sparkle. I’m a huge David Bowie fan, so a lightning bolt felt like an obvious choice. From there we experimented with stars and some starburst lines. Somehow it matched Pip’s accessories perfectly, despite neither of us knowing what the other would be wearing."

How did you find the process of designing and creating your personalised jacket?

"So liberating. It’s basically the only time I’ve ever felt like I was able to create a piece of clothing that I actually wanted to wear. Men’s clothing is so boring and the feeling of freedom it gave me to be able to create something unique and special was unbelievable. Beth and the team were so excited to work on the project too, so brimming with ideas and enthusiasm. It was amazing to feel that Beth was as excited about the project as I was, it made the experience feel like it really was special."
