George Bailey
As an award winning embroidery studio based in the northeast, working with people who want unique pieces is what we do. This project so much more than just embroidery: it was about making something that represented George, visually bringing his presence to life and making him pop under the lights of his gig.

Launching his EP, this gig was a celebration of 12 months of songwriting, rehearsals and hard work. As a local artist, George was able to visit our studio regularly, giving us the chance to talk about the atmosphere of the show and the impression he wanted to have when walking onto the stage.
As artists, we wanted to understand the story behind the performance and his ideas: he came to us with sketches, inspiration and detailed artwork around gothic bold dragons, and together we explored different directions whilst deciding that dark denim would be the perfect canvas.

Clothing for live performances is different to everyday attire. Thinking about lighting, movement and the stage setup; every detail has to work from a distance as well as up close. We came to the decision that metallic silver thread would be an incredible contrast against the dark denim and catch the stage lighting. It was a collaborative process from the beginning, but George trusted us to take his ideas and bring them to life: translating his sketches into something that would work well embroidered.
‘I had some really big ideas and Beth was great at helping me narrow them down and make something special and unique’
The best part of any project is seeing to being used exactly as it was intended. Watching George wear the set during his EP launch made every hour designing and stitching worth while. The embroidery became part of his performance, catching the lights and doing what we envisioned.

‘Working with Beth was amazing. She was super hands on every sep of the way and I was so surprised when I picked up the outfit. Seeing it in person was really amazing and overwhelming.’

It’s so special collaborating with talented people and bringing creative ideas to life. This set was completely one of a kind, designed especially for George and his unforgettable performance. The North East is full of artists and we’re proud to play a part in this story.
