The Horner's

Elopement, Adventurous, Personal, Boat, Scotland.

26th July 2023

Location: Isle of Skye, Loch Coruisk, Scottish Highlands, UK.

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Isle of Skye, this intimate elopement was truly unforgettable. The couple arrived at their ceremony by boat, navigating serene waters through the Cuillin Mountains, before arriving at their dream location.

How did you find eloping?

Our wedding week was everything we’d dreamed of - minimal stress and one big whirlwind of adventure. We travelled up to the Scottish Highlands, spending a few days exploring, doing the highland fling tandem bungee jump and having a bottle of whisky engraved at the Talisker distillery that we could use in our ceremony.

We chose our exact ceremony spot with the help of our celebrant, Rona, and photographer, Andrew, who were both locals. They were the absolute dream team to work with and had supported us throughout the whole process with suppliers, ideas, vow writing and more!

What special moments will you remember forever about your wedding day?

On our wedding day, we woke up to an amazing sunrise, got ready separately and had a ‘first look’ outside the cabin we were staying at. We then travelled by private boat to Loch Coruisk, surrounded by the Cuillin Mountains, watching the seals and dolphins on the way. We’d been here before and so when we got engaged, we knew pretty much straight away that this was the dream location.

It was so special and important to us to have written our own personal vows and made it all feel more meaningful. We then had a funny and touching speech from Rona all about us and our lives and finished the ceremony with the Scottish wedding tradition of drinking from the ‘quiach’ with our Talisker whisky.

We signed the legal paperwork on a rock, went to explore and cut our tiny cake on the boat back. It was the most special day and although it’s not for everyone, I would say to anyone who’s not sold on the idea of a typical wedding to explore it as an option. You can still have the best day of your life, in your own way!

What elements did you aim to capture within your jacket design and why?

The mountainous location was the most important factor for us to capture as it was such a huge part of our big day. When we saw the ‘Floral Mountain Sunset’ jacket, we knew that was what we had in mind. Beth altered the original design to remove the trees and have the mountains really frame Loch Coruisk. She also added extra details like the boat patch (which the family run boat company LOVED!) and subtle details like our married names under the collar.

How did you find the process of creating your own personalised jacket?

As someone who was eloping to avoid any sort of stressful planning, I worried that trying to design a jacket to wear on one of the most important days of my life would be one of the most difficult parts of the process. However, Beth was so helpful and supportive at every stage, making suggestions for things I hadn’t even thought about, asking the right questions and making countless alterations to come up with something beyond what we had wished for. Beth sent photos over at each stage, but when the jacket actually arrived, the level of detail and quality blew me away. I still get excited every time I wear it!
